Tomato is a soap that combines several things that are really significant for us: illustration, scent, formula and meaningfulness. We were inspired by Dusia, the founder of 4 Starlings, who loves vegetable cosmetics, and Przemek, graphic designer whose illustrations adorn our cosmetics since the very beginning (ten years already!) and we created handcrafted soap bar that smells as if it has ripened in the summer sun - intense, green, with a hint of sweetness and slight spiciness. All the credits go to tomato, its oil and bits, as well as the unusual combination of essential oils: lemon, geranium, oregano and lemon eucalyptus.

What can possibly happen when 4 Starlings’ illustrator paints tomatoes and the founder believes that this particular veggie has a great cosmetic potential? Well, this happens – here’s Tomato soap bar.
Przemek Sokolowski, graphic designer and illustrator from Podlasie, has worked with us since the very beginning. It is him, who designed our logo and created this characteristic, slightly unruly visual branding. What’s more to say? This guy has a taste, a sense of style, and inner radar that shows what’s going to be a hit, even before we begin to discuss the idea. Przemek designed all our labels and the graphics. And one of his illustrations inspired us to create this particular soap bar.
Dusia, on the other hand, the founder and guardian of all things cool, is the person with the “let’s do it” mindset. Even when the rest of the group is still wondering if the project is worth the effort. Spoiler alert: usually is. Dusia has this rare ability to embrace the risk which, as it turns out, does not end up not with the catastrophe, but a new product. Her intuition for cool, unusual and unobvious things is unfailing. And so was this time too.
Tomato soap bar is not afraid to be different. The scent is intensively green and fresh – with a touch of herbal sharpness to it. The notes of lemon, geranium, oregano, lemon eucalyptus reflect the climate of the south, but without overly exotic vibes.
Formula? Handcrafted with the cold process method, because then we have the control over our soap bar. The base consists of natural plant-based oils: coconut oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil and shea butter. These ingredients have been the foundation of all our soaps for years. All due to their efficiency, gentleness and because they lather without any artificial additions.
The wow factor was not the only argument for adding tomato to the formula. The reason behind this is far more obvious: tomato is really efficient. The tomato oil is rich in lycopene and unsaturated fats, the substances that support the regeneration of the skin and strengthen its barrier. Tomato bits make the texture of the soap bar curiously different, noticeable, but not too overwhelming.
If you look for the soap bar that’s a little bit different, but still does its bit, Tomato is the one.
